Alaska Airlines is the fifth-largest U.S. airline, and is one of the most popular U.S. West Coast air carriers. Headquartered in Seattle, Alaska Airlines carries more passengers between the state of Alaska and the Lower 48 than any other airline. Alaska Airlines operates to more than one hundred destinations in the United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba and Mexico from its main hub at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport and from its secondary hubs in Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, Anchorage, and focus cities at San Diego and San Jose.

Alaska Airlines’ route system spans more than 92 cities in the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico. Some of the locations served in the carrier's namesake state include Anchorage, Adak, Barrow, Cordova, Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Kotzebue, King Salmon, Nome, Prudhoe Bay and Sitka. The airline has expanded significantly to serve several U.S. East Coast and southern cities including Nashville, Tennessee; Charleston, South Carolina and Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina. The airline has also expanded internationally, with nonstop service from Los Angeles to Costa Rica, Mexico City and Cuba.

Alaska Airlines has been ranked by J. D. Power and Associates as having the highest customer satisfaction of the traditional airlines for ten consecutive years. Alaska Airlines operates an all-Boeing 737 fleet, with the airline painting the slogan "proudly all Boeing" on the noses of nearly all its planes. It's a recognition that the airline, headquartered in the Seattle metropolitan area, flies planes built in the Seattle metropolitan area. Alaska Airlines remains focused on improving both passenger comfort and our fuel efficiency. Alaska Airlines maintains a young, operational fleet of 153 Boeing 737 aircraft, with an average age of 9.2 years, and 52 Bombardier Q400 aircraft with an average age of 9.4 years. It operates many flights linking small towns to major transportation hubs and carries more passengers between Alaska and the contiguous United States than any other airline.
